Pagerank is the most important website and link value score in today SEO market. Price for advertising on a website depend from pagerank, in some cases traffic and Alexa score doesn’t play any role in link sale deals. Most webmaster belive that if website link your url from the page with highter pagerank, your site will get highter rankings. Even explanations that content, educational, and award links way more important for search engines optimization, hight pagerank links play a big role in today market.

If you advertise your site from Pagerank 8 website with good traffic, it will be the same effect as you spend money for poster on Time Square in New York City. In most cases it will drive traffic, customers, and regular visitors. It also mean that you don’t have to pay to get good links. If you provide quality content, you can get natural link from magor website and it will be even better for your rankings. The same possible in real life… If Harry Potter book will be first avaliable in Paris, most likely French officials will place poster with this information on Eiffel tower.

Google and other search engines don’t give better positions to websites with better pagerank. New website with 0 pagerank can get way better serps (search engine positions) than pagerank 8 website. Pagerank play a big role only for sites who sell link space or exchange links with other webmasters. Also, it is important for SEO, webmaster, web development, and directory sites… People will never pay SEO company any money if this seo company has official site with low pagerank. Dating, travel, shopping etc sites don’t really need hight pagerank. It doesn’t improve search engines rankings.

However, if you still want to increase your pagerank you need large ammount of incoming links from other quality sites. It is easy to get pagerank when your site just opened. Google can give pr4 to new websites who has only some backlinks from some pr3-4 sites. It is extremely hard to get pagerank 5 and higher. Website might not pass pagerank “gate” if Google suspect that site are buying to many links and spam to increase pagerank. You need at least 5-10 quality pr5 links from trusted sites who link only quality sites and amount of links from this page less than 50 or even 20.

If you got large amount of pagerank 5+ backlinks, you site can increase with next update, but in some cases, pagerank can increase in 2-3 updates and you have to wait from 6 months to 1 year.

Pagerank scam became a biggest problem in today SEO. Scammers found it very attractive that some webmasters can afford hundreds and even thousands dollard for good links. Buying expired domain names which already lost pagerank value but still show pagerank which used to be (until next update). This way scammer can sell hundereds fake pagerank links and disappear with money. Webmaster will realize his mistake only 3 months later after update. Some scammers can falsify pagerank using redirects from pages with real pagerank and add links on fake pagerank pages as well. Also, hacker / scammer can send you a virus which will affect you google toolbar and will represent wrong pagerank for desired page. To avoid this mistakes you should always use “fake pagerank” tools which available on many SEO sites and webmaster resources.
